Spinal Care
The human spine is an incredible structure that plays a vital role in our body's overall functionality. It serves as the main support for our body, allows us to stand upright, and protects the spinal cord, which is an essential part of our central nervous system. The spine is composed of 33 vertebrae, which are divided into five regions: cervical (neck), thoracic (upper back), lumbar (lower back), sacral (pelvic), and coccygeal (tailbone). Each vertebra is separated by an intervertebral disc, which acts as a cushion and allows for movement between the vertebrae. The spine's shape is naturally curved, with the cervical and lumbar regions curving inward and the thoracic and sacral regions curving outward. This curvature helps distribute weight and absorb shock, which protects the spine and the rest of the body from injury. When our spine bends out of alignment, the body starts to compensate, causing poor posture, pain, and leads to an overall decrease in performance.
Our Approach
-
1. Align The Pelvis, Sacrum (Tailbone), And Vertebrae
How?
Contrary to the traditional chiropractic approach, we use a non-cracking, safe technique called muscle energy which uses your muscles to properly align all segments of your spine. This is often done over the course of a few visits, but many patients leave after the first visit in properly alignment with a significant decreases in pain.
-
2. Release Tight Muscles That Are Causing Poor Alignment
How?
We use techniques such as soft and deep tissue massage, percussion, and other manual therapy methods that free up your tight muscles. This freeing of structures helps promote healthy spinal alignment when used with our manual techniques.
-
3. Prescribe Exercises To Prevent Muscles From Pulling You Out Of Alignment
How?
When you have spinal pain and ailments, performing specific exercises targeting the right muscles is essential. We prescribe these exercises for you to complete at therapy and home to keep your back properly aligned. We focus on core stabilization and strengthening to help maintain proper posture and alignment.
